Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Wound Care
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 4 shifts per week, 10-hour shifts (07:30 AM - 06:00 PM), Monday to Friday
- No nights, weekends, or holidays required
- Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 3 shifts per 13 weeks
- Floating: Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility)
- Pending License: Accepted
- Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days
Experience & Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Wound Care
- Required Years of Experience: 2 years
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- WOCN (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing) certification in hand at time of submission
- Skills Required:
- Hospital experience with wound and ostomy care
- Colostomy, ileostomy, double barrel stoma, loop with rod stoma, mucous fistula care and management
- Continence skin care management
- Wound care including burns (1st to 4th degree), pressure ulcers (Stages I-IV), venous ulcers, neuropathic ulcers, peripheral arterial ulcers
- Wound assessment, measurement, staging, treatment, and recommendations/orders
- Use of wound care products such as alginates, autolytic, enzymatic debriding agents, foams, hydrocolloids, hydrogels, silver products, vacuum-assisted closure (Wound Vac Therapy)
- G-tube/J-tube feeding and site care
- Infection control and isolation precautions
- Patient and family education, staff education, and collaboration with other departments
- Pain management and risk assessment tools (Braden scale, prevention risk assessment)
- Ability to walk entire campus during the day
- Special Requirements:
- Orthopedic knowledge
- Wound vac ordering, application, and removal
- Ostomy site marking and teaching
- Ability to escalate assessment concerns

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required
- Various state-specific background checks and registries (Missouri and Illinois)
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include a comprehensive panel
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies
- Orientation modules completed through WorkRamp prior to start (approximately 16 hours)
- Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific skills checklists
- References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
Additional Notes
- On-call is not required
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all required compliance and orientation modules prior to start
- Candidates must adhere to facility policies including dress code and hand hygiene to avoid being sent home
