Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Nashua, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery with experience in a hospital setting. This is a travel contract position requiring specific certifications and experience.


Required Experience & Skills

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years (with preference for 2-5 years L&D experience)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required; unit does not accept first-time travelers
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (AHA Provider)
    • NRP
    • NH nursing license or compact license
    • Epic experience required

Job Details

  • Shift: 12-hour flexible day or night shifts; 36 or 48 hours accepted
  • Staffing Ratios:
    • 1:1 or 1:2 for labor
    • 1:3 for couplets
  • Call Requirement: None
  • Floating: Only within the division; no float to med/surg units
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Unit Systems: Pyxis, Epic, SBAR
  • Scrubs: Any color

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (AHA only)
  • BLS (AHA only)
  • PALS (AHA only)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for certain units
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (time sensitive; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 30 days of start including:
    • Social Security Verification
    • National Sex Offender Registry
    • National Criminal Search
    • FACIS L3
    • Education Verification
    • Criminal county/state searches (excluding NH counties; NH State Police Search required)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Transcript/Diploma acceptable if education verification pending
  • State license verification and copy required
  • SSA release required
  • New Hampshire BEAS State Registry Results required for NH placements

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
  • Fit mask test annually (N95 or equivalent masks)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (medical or religious exemptions allowed with documentation)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or equivalent)
  • TB Questionnaire required for all travelers
  • Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (declinations accepted with waiver)
    • Varicella
  • Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 14 days prior to start (with a 7-day grace period)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during October 31 - April 1 period (medical or religious exemptions allowed with documentation)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance required

Additional Requirements

  • Two current professional references within the last 3 years (one must be from a supervisor or charge RN)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Annual internal evaluation for travelers with Aya or agency for 1+ year
  • Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge, insurance proof (if applicable), and compliance attestations

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel experience who meet the certification and compliance requirements.
