Job Opportunity: Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology - Registered Nurse
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Accepts inpatient oncology experience only; no other outpatient clinic experience accepted except infusion clinic.
- Work in a fast-paced clinic serving autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplant patients and CAR-T patients.
- Opportunity to rotate through multiple areas: infusion/day hospital, lab/port draw, clinic, and bone marrow biopsy suite.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and manage chemotherapy/biotherapy, including investigational protocols.
- Transfuse blood, platelets, and fresh frozen plasma.
- Perform port draws, phlebotomy, and central line access and care.
- Assist in procedural area with bone marrow biopsy/aspiration, including minimal analgesia and recovery.
- Manage toxicities related to chemotherapy/biotherapy.
- Monitor and manage patients with neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, and electrolyte abnormalities including repletion.
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Oncology focus)

Certifications & Licenses
- Permanent Virginia RN license required (temporary licenses not accepted).

- HIPAA Acknowledgement required.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 60 days of start, including all states lived/worked in past 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification: Degree from an accredited nursing program (NLN or CCNE).
- Fingerprinting required for certain units; process may take up to 28 days.
- Drug testing within 60 days of start (9-panel minimum, instant drug screens not accepted).
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Immunizations and titers required: Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella. Boosters required if titers are low.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
- Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required for the 2025-26 season.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required.
- Complete application/resume required.
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests required as applicable.
- Color blindness testing required.
- Abuse reporting competency required (covering physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect/exploitation of elderly or incapacitated adults).
- Orientation includes pharmacology exam, point of care testing, and mask fitting.
- Completion of assigned learning modules during orientation week (approx. 6 hours).

- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service.
- Proof of primary residence must match compact licensure documentation.
- No onsite certification renewals; renewals must be scheduled prior to contract start.
- Candidates may start with some background or fingerprinting results pending if proof of submission is on file.
