Job Description
- Work evening/night shifts (8 or 12 hours), scheduled 1900-07:30, including every other weekend and holiday rotation.
- Must float as needed; may be assigned to multiple ICU units or other departments depending on staffing needs.
- Work in a Magnet®-designated, Level 1 Trauma Center academic hospital environment.
- Provide care across various critical care settings including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, Trauma Surgery, and IMC/Progressive/General care populations.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years (highest required years of experience).
- Experience with multiple ICU units (Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic, Burn ICU, Trauma Surgery, etc.).
- ICU experience with adult populations is required.
- Experience in an academic Level 1 Trauma Center is required.
- Must have successfully completed at least one prior travel assignment of 13 weeks (prior travel experience required).
- Epic electronic health record experience required, preferably within the last 12 months.
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start.
Licensure & Certifications
- Must hold a Wisconsin nursing license or a compact license from permanent address state.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required, must be American Heart Association (AHA) issued.
- Telemetry competency testing required before starting.
Additional Requirements
- Candidate’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the work site.
- Floating is mandatory; may be assigned to different units or locations during the contract.
- Must participate in shared governance and support a collaborative work environment.
Compliance & Documentation
- Background checks including criminal history, education verification, and caregiver screening per Wisconsin state mandates.
- Drug screening required for clinical candidates.
- Immunization and health document requirements include:
- TB testing and questionnaire (annual updates required).
- MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B vaccination or approved exemptions.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
- Other vaccines or declinations as required by department (e.g., Meningococcal for Microbiology).
- Telemetry testing and remediation process with up to 3 attempts allowed; remediation required after 2 failed attempts.
- Photo for badge and other facility-specific forms required prior to start.
