Job Description
- Work schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) and Every Other Weekend (EOH)
- Requires 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit) / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care
- Placement on unit based on greatest need: PCU, Med/Surg, or Telemetry unit
- Accepts RNs with Med/Surg or Stepdown experience (same credentialing for both)
- Must be able to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current RN license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- Driver’s License or State ID (must be valid and meet compact license requirements if applicable)
Required Health & Compliance
- Completed health screenings and immunizations including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine (seasonal; exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- Varicella (two vaccines or immunity proof, no declinations accepted)
- Tdap (valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
- Fit Test for respiratory protection (annual requirement)
- TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
- Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
Required Onboarding & Testing
- Completion of Ascension-specific onboarding modules and attestations
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% score
- Ascension EKG Exam with passing score (minimum 80%)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical competency) updated annually
- Ascension Epic Test-Out (training and assessment)
- Ascension Color Vision test (updated every 3 years)
- Ascension 2 Professional References required prior to first assignment
- Criminal background check, EPLS, and employment verifications completed prior to start and updated annually
Additional Notes
- Must be flexible to float to different units or nearby sites as needed
- This is a travel nursing position with a focus on acute care step-down and telemetry skills
- Compliance with all facility-specific credentialing and onboarding requirements is mandatory
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with a strong background in PCU or Med-Surg Telemetry who are comfortable working in a dynamic environment and meeting comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
