Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU

Job Details

• Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Shift: Night shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts (3x12's only)
• Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty (CVICU) prior to travel assignments
• Recent CVICU experience of at least 18 months required; travel experience in CVICU will suffice
• Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable)
• NIHSS Certification
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation

Prior Travel Experience

• Travel experience in CVICU is acceptable to meet recent experience requirements
• No explicit requirement for prior travel contracts beyond this

Orientation and Testing

• Pass/fail ECG and medication dosing testing completed onsite during orientation
• Orientation includes completion of SafeMedicate and ECG rhythm recognition assessments
• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory
• Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing

Licensure and Background Checks

• Permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license required
• Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
• Immunizations required:

  • Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titers with boosters if needed
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination documentation
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)

Documentation and Compliance

• Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty
• Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required
• Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required (except OR nurses)
• State-specific Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint attestation required

Additional Notes

• Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID during assignment
• Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and assessments prior to start
• Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus system for submitting hours worked

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU nurses with recent acute care experience, who hold the appropriate licensure and certifications, and are comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity environment.
