Job Opportunity: RN Step Down (Travel)

Job Description

• Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) schedule.
• Requires 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit) / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care.
• Placement will be on a unit with the greatest need: PCU, Med/Surg, or Telemetry unit based on skills.
• Accepts RNs with Med/Surg or Stepdown experience (same credentialing for both).
• Must be able to float onsite within skill set or to sites within 40 miles if needed.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care experience.
• Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (American Heart Association)
• ACLS (American Heart Association)
• Current RN license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
• License/Certificate verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and match address requirements).

Required Health & Compliance

• Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years).
• Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start, updated yearly).
• NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group).
• Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of at least 80%, two attempts allowed).
• Ascension Epic Test-Out (training and test checklist with signed attestation).
• MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
• Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred prior to start, updated annually.
• Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
• Influenza Vaccine (seasonal; exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
• Positive PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire.
• Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
• 2 Step PPD or IGRA testing within required timeframes.
• Varicella: Proof of immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted).
• Tdap vaccination (valid for 10 years, no declinations accepted).
• Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually).

Required Professional Documentation & Checks

• Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile).
• At least two professional references completed prior to first assignment.
• Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (within 30 days of first assignment, updated annually).
• EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start.
• Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills verification within one year of start, updated annually).
• Education Verification (within 90 days of start).
• Confirmation of Assignment documentation.
• Employment Verification for the past seven years.
• Ascension Badge Photo (headshot with white or blue background, no alterations).

Additional Notes

• Must complete various Ascension-specific onboarding requirements and attestations prior to or at start.
• Floating to other units or nearby sites (within 40 miles) may be required based on need.
• No prior travel experience explicitly required for this role.
