Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology


Contract Length

  • 16 weeks (interpreted from contract_length value)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience
  • Prior travel experience required (Unit does not accept first-time travelers)

Schedule & Work Expectations

  • Call: 5 weekdays and 1 weekend every 6 weeks
  • Weekend shifts included in call requirements
  • Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days
  • Holiday work required if assignment includes major holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule

Certifications & Licenses

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for relevant specialties
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required except for Microbiology Techs and Med Techs
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for certain RN specialties (if applicable)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure): May be required depending on specialty
  • State License: Must be licensed by the State of Georgia (for CRTs & RRTs)
  • Tech Certification Verification: Allied annual license verification within 30 days prior to start
  • NURSYS Verification: Annual verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days prior to start
  • Additional certifications may be required based on specialty and facility guidelines

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs and LVNs by agency)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Competency Exam (required for Nursing and Allied by agency)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac Tele/Step-down, ICU, PCU)

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 12 months of start (required by agency)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months (PPD, QGold, or TSpot)
  • TB Questionnaire (required annually for all candidates)
  • Immunizations:
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B Series or Surface Antibody Titer or Signed Declination (special compliance for privileging specialties)
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Declination (required for 2025-26 season)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
  • Additional health documents and vaccination declinations may apply for privileging specialties

Background & Documentation

  • Background Check required within 30 days of start, including:
    • County and national criminal searches
    • Sex offender registry
    • Education verification
  • Diplomas required for RRTs
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
  • References: 2 clinical references required by agency
  • Skills Checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Work History Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
  • Privileging specialties have additional compliance checklists and vaccination declination forms
  • Respirator Fit Test required during on-site orientation for privileging specialties

Notes

  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager decision
