Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Emergency Department (ED/ER)
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
- Number of Openings: 1
- Call Requirements: None
- Weekend Hours: As required by facility
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Flu Vaccination: Required from November 1 to April 1; no declinations accepted
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) — all from American Heart Association only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) — must be obtained prior to start if not currently held
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year Emergency Department experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center OR
- 2 years Emergency Department experience in a Level 2 Trauma Center
- This experience must be clearly indicated on the resume
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Unit & Patient Information
- Unit Type: Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, STEMI, and Regional Burn Center
- Number of Beds: 68
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1; may vary during surge or other circumstances
- Patient Volume: 200+ patients per day (busy urban trauma center)
- Preferred Experience: Trauma and pediatric emergency care, high acuity cases
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
- Work in a clean, air-conditioned environment
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Additional Information
- Must demonstrate strong clinical expertise and excellent communication skills
- Must maintain patient confidentiality and professional accountability
- Orientation for night shift occurs on day shift and requires full availability for the entire week
- Flexible guaranteed hours (36 or 48) must be indicated on submission
- Time off requests (RTO) must be made on the back end; no RTO in the first week; only one holiday RTO allowed per assignment
- Dress code: Black scrubs; unprofessional attire such as jeans is not allowed
