Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
• Shift: 4x12 hour night shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
• Local Radius Requirement: Must live within 75 miles of Rochester, NY
• Patient Ratio: Able to manage 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio on MedSurg unit
• Licensure: Must have New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
• Charting System: Must have EPIC experience

Unit Description

• Acute Stroke Unit (39 beds) specializing in acute stroke and neurological disorders as well as acute medical patients
• Provides evidence-based care with an adjustable acuity delivery model focused on stroke prevention and acute care phases

Required Skills & Competencies

• Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• IV Therapy/Phlebotomy:

  • Peripheral line care and management
• Respiratory Care:

  • Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
  • Non-invasive airway management
• Professional Skills:

  • Isolation precautions

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, education verification, and eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Various certifications as required by unit (ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Certification, etc.)
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as required
• Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and orientation safety manual acknowledgment
• Health requirements including:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year)
  • Fit mask test (annual)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
  • COVID vaccination preferred but not required
• References and employment verification as required

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of MedSurg/Telemetry experience, who holds a current NY RN license, and is comfortable working night shifts with a moderate patient ratio in a specialized acute stroke and neurological care unit. Prior travel experience is not required.
