Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - Pediatrics
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only (Not required for Pediatric Stepdown)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for NICU only
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for ER; preferred for Pediatric ER
  • Other Certifications: Check unit-specific requirements for Chemotherapy, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, and others as applicable

Experience & Requirements

  • Years of Specialty Experience: 2 years minimum
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check (updated annually)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
    • Education verification including foreign equivalency for internationally educated nurses
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (85% passing score)
    • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates starting 8/2/2024)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam for specific units
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 12 months
    • Fit mask test within 12 months (annual update required)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
    • Immunizations: Tdap (highly preferred for pediatrics), MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine (or approved exemption), COVID vaccine preferred
    • 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Employment History:
    • 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
    • Verification of employment for last 7 years required

Facility-Specific Training & Compliance

  • Completion of various mandatory training modules and attestations, including but not limited to:
    • Stroke Education (not required for pediatrics)
    • CLABSI Prevention
    • Preventing Pressure Injury
    • Language Services
    • CAUTI Education (not required for PICU, NICU, Psychiatry)
    • Patient Transportation with Oxygen
    • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment
    • Pyxis ES MedStation
    • Baxter Pump Interoperability
    • Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER)
    • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (not required for pediatrics)
    • Blood Administration Module (not required for Behavioral Health or Case Managers)
    • New Employee Orientation
    • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
    • ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
    • eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatrics, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
    • Chaperone Policy Training

Additional Notes

  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval
  • Parking: $125/month (for reference)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required for this position
  • Pending License: Accepted

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity pediatric setting within a Level I Trauma Center, with support for first-time travel nurses and a comprehensive compliance and training program to ensure readiness and success.
