Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Endoscopy

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (5x8s)
• No call, no weekends, no holidays (may take occasional late shift if needed)
• Unit: Pre-op and post-op area for a busy GI lab (Endoscopy, PACU/recovery)
• Patient Volume: Average daily census of 60 patients
• Role:

  • Procedure monitoring experience is a must
  • Will float within the service line
  • Experience needed in pre and post recovery of GI patients
  • PACU and ED nurses would be successful in this role
  • Some GI knowledge preferred to provide patient education

Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of experience
• Prior Travel Experience: Not a first-time traveler; prior travel experience required
• Certifications:

  • BCLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
  • EPIC charting system experience required
• Skills:

  • Starting IVs
  • Recover monitored anesthesia care sedation
• Preferred: Experience in outpatient endoscopy center and pre/post procedure care

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months required (including statewide and nationwide searches)
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Fingerprinting required for certain assignments (especially in Illinois long-term care or rehab units)
• Verification of highest education related to nursing required
• State-specific background checks and license verifications required
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
• Physical exam within 1 year of start required
• Fit mask test (N95) required and must be renewed annually
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (expires every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Annual HIPAA acknowledgement, latex allergy questionnaire, confidentiality form, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policy reviews required
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approximately 16 hours) through WorkRamp required before start
• Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually
• Professional references required (two, with supervisors preferred)

Additional Notes

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a high patient census
• Must be comfortable floating within the service line
• Prior experience in PACU, ED, or GI/endoscopy settings is highly beneficial
• Must be proficient with EPIC electronic medical records system

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with GI or procedural recovery experience looking for a weekday schedule without weekends or call.
