Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
- Shift Times: Either 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, based on unit needs
- Units Covered: All units except Psychiatry and Women & Infants
- Average Daily Census: 1000+ hospital beds
- Primary Responsibilities:
- Completing assessments on all admitted patients
- Attending interdisciplinary rounds
- Initiating referrals for home health, durable medical equipment (DME), skilled nursing facilities, LTACs, and IRFs
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of case management experience in a facility with 1000+ beds
- Candidates with experience in facilities with 200+ beds will be considered
- Academic experience preferred
- Prior travel experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers
Preferred Skills
- Experience with EPIC and Allscripts electronic health record systems
Certifications & Licenses
- Valid government-issued ID required (driver’s license required for Home Health positions)
- Professional nursing license with primary source verification (Missouri licenses verified via NURSYS)
- ACLS (AHA only)
- BLS (AHA only)
- PALS (AHA only, if applicable)
- NRP (AHA or AAP, if applicable)
- TNCC (required if extending past 9 months in Burn ICU)
- CPI or MAB (if applicable)
- Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., EFM, NIH Stroke Certification)
Background Checks & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 6 months of start date (7-year search including statewide and nationwide checks)
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
- State-specific searches and registries as applicable (Missouri and Illinois)
- Fingerprinting required for assignments in Illinois long-term care or rehab units
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must remain valid throughout assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (with yearly questionnaire)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
- Hepatitis B declination required (vaccination not mandatory)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of facility orientation modules through WorkRamp (approximately 16 hours) prior to start
- HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Regulatory Compliance Education, TB Questionnaire, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy to be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months of start)
- Various state and facility-specific forms and registrations may be required depending on unit and shift
Additional Notes
- Unit does not accept first-time travelers
- Oncology competency exam required for Med Surg-Oncology unit
- Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams required and must be updated annually
- References: Two professional references required; supervisors within the last year preferred
