Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Rochester, New York
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Patient Ratios:
    • Day/Eve: 5:1 (stretch 6-7)
    • Night: 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
  • Support Staff: PCTs perform vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs. In-house phlebotomy team handles peripheral lab draws. Nurses manage PICC and central lines.
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs between like units.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
  • Block Scheduling: Facility will try to accommodate but not guaranteed.
  • Locals Accepted: No (within 75 miles radius)
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Keep RTO close to 1 week

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI accepted
    • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification as required by unit
  • Preferred: Epic charting experience

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response Teams
  • Peripheral line care/management
  • Oxygen delivery devices: nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Isolation precautions

  • Acute kidney injury
  • Sepsis
  • COVID-19
  • Alcohol withdrawal
  • Altered mental status
  • Various infections (gangrene, necrotizing fasciitis, osteomyelitis, pneumonia, etc.)

Equipment Used

  • SCD pump
  • Bear Hugger
  • Wound vac
  • Tube feeding pump

Uniform & Charting

  • Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
  • Charting system: Epic

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start
  • Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable
  • Education verification from primary source (no hard copies)
  • Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunizations and titers: Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
  • COVID vaccination preferred but not required
  • References (2 within 3 years) required for Aya candidates
  • Employment application and work history verification required
  • State-specific checks including NYS Nurse Aide Registry, criminal background fingerprinting, disciplinary action search, sex offender registry, and Medicaid exclusion list as applicable

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience in MS/Tele nursing, comfortable with moderate patient ratios, and able to float within similar units. The role requires strong clinical skills in dysrhythmia management and respiratory support, with a preference for Epic charting experience. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and certifications is mandatory.
