Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work hours: 07:00 AM – 05:30 PM
- On-call requirements:
- At least 2 weekends in an 8-week schedule
- 1-2 weeknights per week (call starts between 5:30 PM or 7:00 PM until 7:00 AM next morning)
- Weekend call from 7:00 AM Saturday to 7:00 AM Monday (48 hours)
- Once trained in neuro, call duties split between cardiac and neuro
Required Certifications and Skills
- ARRT certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- Diagnostic right and left heart catheterization
- Interventional catheterization
- Rotablator use
- Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
- Closure devices
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Circulating and scrubbing in procedures
- Sterile procedure and equipment setup
- Experience with computerized documentation
- Patient population: middle adult to geriatrics
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty (Cath Lab Tech)
- Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Education verification matching specialty required (diploma or transcript acceptable if verification unavailable)
- KY State Abuse Registry check required for Home Health specialties (not applicable here)
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
- Fit mask test annually (with waiver process if failed)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required, no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer, series, or declination required
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required, no declinations accepted
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), no declinations accepted
- COVID-19 vaccination or medical/religious exemption required, with facility-specific exemption form if applicable
Competency and Testing
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (advanced level for Cath Lab Techs)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Color blind testing required prior to start
- Pass/fail EKG test required for certain units (not specifically stated for this role)
