Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: MS/Tele RN (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)
• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Must be available for some holidays
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7
• Unit Size: 26 beds
• Patient Population: CHF, acute MI, post-device care (pacemakers), arrhythmias
• Floating: Required
• Charting System: EPIC experience required
• Licensure: Must have New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• Distance Requirement: Must live more than 75 miles from the facility (no locals accepted)
• Certifications Required: ACLS and BLS (AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted)

Required Experience

• Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• IV therapy and phlebotomy: Peripheral line care/management
• Respiratory care: Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management
• Adherence to isolation precautions

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and updated monthly
• Education verification from primary source required (no hard copy degrees accepted)
• Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
• COVID vaccination preferred but not required
• References: 2 references within 3 years (required for Aya candidates)
• Employment application and work history verification required
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams as required
• State-specific documents including NYS Nurse Aide Registry and criminal background checks as applicable

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete all health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and state license verification required within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start for RN license

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical telemetry nursing who hold a current New York RN license and are comfortable working night shifts with a moderate patient ratio in a tertiary care setting. Prior travel experience is not required, and first-time travelers are welcome.
