Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract
Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position in the Emergency Department (ED)
- Facility may call off up to 3 times per contract
- Must be willing to float as needed at manager’s discretion based on skillset
- Locals within a 50-mile radius or specific counties in NY are not accepted for this travel role
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of current ED experience preferred (highest required years of experience)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Licenses & Certifications Required
- New York RN License in hand
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
- Must pass a hospital proctored rhythm identification test with:
80% accuracy in rhythm identification
- 100% accuracy in identifying critical rhythms
- EPIC charting experience required
- Experience with Omnicell medication system preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Telemetry experience required
- Triage and Level 1 trauma experience preferred
- Must successfully pass advanced EKG/ECG competency testing within 72 hours of contract signing (90% passing score required, 100% on lethal rhythms)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
- Color blindness test preferred
Health & Safety Requirements
- Flu vaccine required by November 1st, 2024 (medical or religious exemptions must be approved 2 weeks prior to start)
- Negative 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold test within 1 year of start (Tspot tests not accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (onsite physical required prior to start)
- Fit mask test (N95 OSHA questionnaire and fit test) required; quantitative fit test only accepted for 3M 1870 mask
- Immunizations required:
- Measles (Rubeola): 2 MMR boosters or positive titer
- Mumps: 2 MMR boosters or positive titer
- Rubella: 2 MMR boosters or positive titer
- Varicella: 2 boosters or positive titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, declination, or vaccine series (3 doses)
- Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test required prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Must complete Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement)
- Must provide a passport-style photo for badge
- Must complete facility-specific orientation modules and competency testing prior to start
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG must be completed and updated annually
- References: 2 professional references for travel/allied/per diem acute care roles
Notes
- Flu season starts December 5th and continues until NYS DOH declares it over or vaccine expires
- Facility enforces strict local radius and county restrictions for travelers
- Candidates must be prepared for rigorous testing and documentation requirements to ensure compliance with facility and state regulations
