Job Details

• Patient Ratios:

  • Day/Eve: 5:1 (stretch 6-7)
  • Night: 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
• Support Staff:

  • PCTs perform vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs
  • In-house phlebotomy team handles peripheral lab draws
• Nursing Responsibilities:

  • PICC lines and central line care/management
• Floating Requirements:

  • Must float within scope to MS, ICU, and ED units as needed
• Schedule:

  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated but not guaranteed
• Locals: Not accepted within 75 miles
• Pending License: Not accepted
• Holiday Time Off: No holiday RTO; max 7 days off

Required Experience & Certifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) mandatory
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification as required by unit
• Special Skills:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response Teams
  • Peripheral line care/management
  • Oxygen delivery devices (nasal cannula, face masks, portable tanks)
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Isolation precautions
• Preferred: Epic charting experience

Patient Population & Equipment

• Patient Diagnoses: Cardiac and stroke patients
• Special Equipment: Hoyer lifts
• Charting System: Epic

Health & Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete the following health and compliance requirements within 5 days of contract signing:

• Physical exam (within 1 year)
• Fit mask test (annual)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (during flu season)
• Eye exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Background & Verification Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check (felony checks) within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
• Education verification from primary source (no hard copies)
• Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
• State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Employment verification of at least 2 past employments
• References: 2 within 3 years (Aya candidates only)
• Facility-specific documents and attestations as required

Additional Notes

• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
• No on-call requirement
• Must provide government-issued photo ID
• Candidates must be able to float between MS, ICU, and ED units within scope

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing who are comfortable with cardiac and stroke patient care, have required certifications, and are open to travel assignments.
