Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Travel/Contract)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department at a top-ranked academic Level 1 Trauma center. The ED treats over 60,000 patients annually, including adult and pediatric populations, and offers comprehensive emergency services including trauma care, cardiac catheterization, acute stroke care, burn center, ECMO program, and more.
Work Schedule
- Evening/Night shifts (12-hour and 8-hour shifts as needed)
- Typical shift times: 1500-0330 or 1900-0730
- Weekend and holiday rotation required
- Floating required: may be assigned to multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience with adult and pediatric patients within the last 3 years
- Experience in an academic Level 1 Trauma center or similar size hospital required
- Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
- Epic electronic health record experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
Licensure & Certifications
- Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from permanent address state
- BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification required
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
Additional Requirements & Information
- Traveler’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the work site
- Must complete various background checks and verifications as per facility and state requirements
- Required to complete facility-specific competency exams including Telemetry testing (Adult and Pediatric as applicable)
- Must comply with all health document requirements including immunizations (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, TB testing, Flu vaccine or approved exemption, etc.)
- Drug screening required per agency standards
- Must complete orientation safety manual acknowledgment and pass medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Facility is Magnet®-designated and highly ranked nationally

Summary
This is a travel/contract Registered Nurse position in a high-acuity Emergency Department requiring strong ED experience, prior travel experience, and multiple certifications.
