Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Home Health
Location: Cumming, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide, coordinate, and direct home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
- Supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses.
- Conduct home visits and periodic office meetings.
- Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day.
- Types of cases include Start of Care, Wound Care, Follow-up Visits, etc.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM (some positions may have alternate schedules such as 4x10 shifts Friday-Monday).
- Patient visits occur both in care facilities and patients' homes.
- Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic.
- Use of electronic medical records systems: HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB), Oasis, and Outlook.
- On-call requirement: Every 4th weekend (varies, discuss during interview).
- Weekend requirements vary by location and profession.
Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in Adult Home Health or Hospice.
- Experience: Minimum 1 full year of recent specialty experience in Adult Home Health or Hospice (whichever is higher). First-time travelers are not accepted; recent specialty experience is mandatory.
- Certifications: Current CPR and BLS certification required.
- Must have a valid nursing license in hand (no pending licenses accepted).
- Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and agency-required liability insurance.
- Proficiency with HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) within the last 6 months is required; if proficiency is older, retraining will be required. RNs must also be proficient in Oasis.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Additional Information
- Dress code: Scrubs.
- Productivity expectations: 25-30 weekly units.
- Mileage reimbursement at IRS standard rate; compensation is from patient home to patient home (commute to/from first and last patient is not billable).
- Locals are accepted at the same rate.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
Candidates must complete and maintain the following prior to and during assignment:
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID.
- Background checks including 7-year history, sex offender search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches as applicable.
- Fingerprinting as required by state regulations.
- Education verification (degree applicable to profession).
- Physical exam within 12 months confirming good health and no communicable diseases.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Immunization or titer proof for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- Drug testing (10-panel).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination.
- COVID-19 vaccination series or declination.
- Completion of facility-specific compliance documents including confidentiality forms, HIPAA and privacy policies, compliance training, and home health/hospice core policy acknowledgments.
- References: Two references required for all placements.
- Work history verification: At least two most recent employers or last 7 years if only one employer.
