Job Description
- MS float position (Medical-Surgical and Telemetry float)
- Locals allowed
- EPIC system experience required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification and stroke education required
Required Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse

- NIH Stroke Certification required for all inpatient RNs (except OR and PICC nurses); must be updated annually
- Stroke education CEUs required annually, hours vary by unit (e.g., ICU – 6 hours, ER – 4 hours, Med Surg – 1 hour)
- Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Medication) administered during orientation
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required within one year of start date
- Competency exams as applicable to specialty/profession
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, updated annually
- Fingerprinting via Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check (effective 7/15/2025)
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Valid and current driver’s license required for Home Health & Hospice positions (not applicable here)
- Drug screen within last 12 months (specific panels required)
- Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within last 12 months; if positive, clearance letter required
- Required vaccinations or proof of immunity:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox)
- Flu vaccination required during flu season (10/1-3/31) with hard documentation deadline; medical/religious exemptions accepted with approval
- COVID vaccination preferred (initial series)

- Photo for badge meeting specific guidelines (recent, professional, neutral background, no hats/headphones, etc.)
