Job Description

• Position: PCU/Step Down Registered Nurse
• Shift Options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
• Floating: May float to Intermediate and MedSurg units; travelers float first as needed
• Radius Rule: 60 mile radius
• Orientation: Biweekly orientation on Mondays
• Scrubs: Any color, professional appearance; child-friendly print tops allowed; scrub/lab coat allowed
• Campus: Nicotine-free

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience in the unit specialty (Step Down/PCU)
• Preferred 2-3 years minimum overall nursing experience
• Prior travel experience required (first-time travelers NOT accepted)

Licensure & Certifications

• Must have or be eligible for RN licensure (pending certifications considered)
• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Candidate profile including work history
• Specialty-specific skills checklist
• Minimum 2 manager/charge references within past 2 years
• RN license verification (NURSYS verification within 2 days of submission)
• Copies of all required certifications

Additional Requirements

• Background checks including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Education verification as applicable
• Physical exam within 6 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Immunizations/vaccinations:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start (instant drug screen permitted; marijuana not required)
• Flu vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
• Color blind testing (Ishihara)
• Signed acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and blood draw consent
