Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Unit Description

  • Telemetry/Medical Surgical unit
  • 16 bed capacity

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
  • Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard RN experience for Med Surg roles (typically 1+ years)

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all positions (AHA or ARC)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required (AHA or ARC)

Competencies and Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Must be within 30 days of start and updated annually; 100% passing score required

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required annually with 90% passing score in all subsections (relevant for Telemetry units)
  • Core Parts I, II, III Exams: Annual completion required covering safety, ethics, patient care, etc.
  • Conscious Sedation Competency Exam: Required if applicable to the unit (check with manager)

Background and Verification Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and OFAC Sanctions List checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education verification with transcript/diploma matching highest degree
  • State nursing license verification within 30 days prior to start
  • NURSYS verification for RN licenses (within 30 days prior to start)
  • Work history verification for last 10 years, including international positions
  • References: Two former direct supervisor references required (one within 1 year, one within 3 years)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam/statement of good health within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (Tdap mandatory for certain units)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required
  • Hepatitis B: Completed vaccine series, positive titer, or declination (declinations require annual renewal)
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox required
  • Flu vaccine required annually (with medical or religious exemption accepted; declinations not accepted)
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including marijuana (required within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
  • COVID vaccination strongly preferred; declinations accepted with agency form

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Patient Care Orientation Class (Skills) mandatory for all RNs
  • EPIC training required if no EPIC experience within last 6 months
  • N95 Mask Fit Testing completed onsite prior to or on first day
  • Completion of HealthStream modules onsite after clearance
  • Various policy acknowledgments and agreements (Ethical Business Conduct, Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace, Information Access, Oklahoma Offender Registration, etc.) required prior to start
  • Fingerprinting and Oklahoma Screen clearance required

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must maintain all certifications and competencies current throughout assignment
  • Annual updates required for many competencies and health documents
  • Candidates without required documentation or certifications may be removed from assignment
