Required Certifications & Verifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA only
  • NIH Stroke Certification – Required for all nurses (AHA, Apex, or NIHSS accepted; must be updated annually)
  • Other Certifications (as applicable by unit):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • CPI or MAB (Crisis Prevention Institute or Management of Assaultive Behavior)
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) if applicable
  • State License Verification: Primary source verification required (Missouri licenses verified via NURSYS)
  • IV Certification: Required for LPNs/LVNs with Missouri licenses
  • Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology competency and unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually

Background Checks & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 6 months of start (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks quarterly
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required
  • State-specific searches (Missouri EDL, Highway Patrol, Family Care Safety Registry) as applicable
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments in Illinois long-term care or rehab units
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
  • Annual compliance with facility-specific policies including HIPAA, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality, Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, Dress Code, and Regulatory Compliance Education

Health Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required annually; onsite testing available if needed
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer, vaccination, or medical exemption required
    • Hepatitis B declination required (vaccine not mandatory)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
  • Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
  • Completion of orientation modules through WorkRamp (approximately 16 hours) required for all RNs and LVNs
