Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ICU Nights

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) - Nights
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse
  • First-time Travelers: Not accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period, every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Local Radius Rule: Candidates must be outside a 75-mile radius (locals not accepted)
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: 7 days
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week on 3-12 hour shifts

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all nurses)
  • Additional preferred certifications depending on unit (e.g., PALS, ENPC, TNCC, MAB/CPI if applicable)

Experience & Skills

  • Must have experience with hemodynamics and be able to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Prefer candidates with experience using machines and EPIC electronic health record system
  • Experience with bedside tracheostomies and PEG tubes
  • Frequent cardiac outpatient monitoring experience preferred

Scheduling & Work Environment

  • Night shift ICU role
  • 36 hours per week, 3 shifts of 12 hours each
  • Navy scrub color
  • Charting system: EPIC
  • Parking: Free

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued ID required
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required
  • Professional license primary source verification (Missouri licenses via NURSYS)
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include full drug panel and remain valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95 required, PAPR not available)
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Negative TB test or equivalent within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Facility-specific documents such as HIPAA acknowledgement, latex allergy questionnaire, confidentiality form, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • Completion of required orientation modules through WorkRamp (approximately 16 hours)

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete unit-specific competency exams annually
  • Skills checklist required within 1 year of start, including oncology skills if applicable
  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
  • Employment application must be submitted and approved prior to start

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position
  • Candidates must be prepared to float within their scope of practice
  • Pending licenses are accepted, but must be approved
  • Locals within 75 miles are not accepted for this travel role
