Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)

Job Details

  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility)

  • Guaranteed Hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be regular shift length)

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI/MAB, NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable by unit)
  • State License Verification (Missouri license must be verifiable on NURSYS)
  • IV Certification (for LPN/LVN if applicable)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (refer to unit-specific requirements)

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Assessment of blood pressure and peripheral pulse
  • Blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration
  • Diabetes Mellitus Type II management
  • Recognizing hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia
  • Bowel sounds assessment, colostomy care, incontinence management
  • Urinary Tract Infection care
  • Central Line Care (PICC)
  • Eye drop administration
  • IM, SQ, IV, oral, rectal medication administration
  • Narcotic count and medication labeling
  • Use of inhaled medications/nebulizer treatment
  • Administration of analgesics, antiarrhythmics, antibiotics, anticoagulants, antihyperglycemics, antihypertensives, antivirals, and non-narcotic pain medications
  • Dressing changes, wound care and treatments, pressure ulcer prevention and staging
  • Pulse and CMS checks, skin and wound assessment
  • Accurate patient identification, admission and discharge procedures
  • Advanced directives, emergency procedures/protocols
  • Fall prevention and documentation
  • Infection control, isolation/PPE use
  • Pain assessment and management
  • Lung sounds auscultation and oxygen administration via nasal cannula or face mask
  • Pulse oximetry

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued ID required (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable)
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree (cannot pend at start)
  • Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab units
  • State-specific background checks (Missouri and Illinois) as applicable
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tdap (or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2-step PPD or equivalent)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer, vaccines, or declination)
    • Hepatitis B declination required (not mandatory to vaccinate)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept-April)

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of facility orientation modules via WorkRamp (approx. 16 hours) for RNs and LVNs
  • Annual HIPAA acknowledgement, latex allergy questionnaire, confidentiality form, regulatory compliance education, TB questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
  • Additional forms such as vehicle registration (if applicable) and worker registration forms for Missouri

References & Documentation

  • Two professional references required (supervisors within last year preferred)
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Employment application must be uploaded for facility review
  • Performance evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for extensions or per diem

Prior Travel Experience

  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings who are comfortable with weekend shifts and comprehensive patient care responsibilities in a SNF environment. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
