Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) with Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience. This is a travel/contract position at a Level 1 Trauma, short-term acute care facility with 1266 staffed beds.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in CVOR required.
  • Will consider 1 year if experience is at a Level 1 Trauma Facility.
  • First-time travelers accepted only if they have more than 2 years experience at a Level 1 Trauma Facility.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Weekend work required per call policy.
  • On-call shifts: 3-4 weekdays and 1-2 weekends per 6-week schedule period (may vary by unit needs).
  • Rotating shift start times between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM.
  • Monday through Friday schedule with call shifts and holidays as needed.
  • Floating within the service line may be required.
  • No block scheduling accommodations.
  • Local candidates not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility.
  • Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days.

Specialty & Clinical Requirements

  • Scrub and circulate experience required for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular cases.
  • Experience with vascular (open and endovascular), transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas), and Whipple (pancreatic) procedures preferred.
  • BSN preferred.

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) – verify with unit-specific requirements.

Licensure

  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri.
  • Pending licenses accepted.
  • Primary source verification of professional license required (NURSYS verification for Missouri).

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months required (7-year search including statewide and nationwide).
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
  • Education verification required prior to start.
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments in Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not applicable here).
  • State-specific searches and abuse registry checks as applicable.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start required.
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually.
  • Tdap vaccine or declination required (expires every 10 years).
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start required.
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity required (vaccines, titers, or declination).
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be current throughout assignment.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01).

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred).
  • Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually.
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules through WorkRamp required.
  • Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments (HIPAA, confidentiality, latex allergy, hand hygiene, dress code, fingernail policy) must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
