Travel Registered Nurse (CVICU) - Knoxville, Tennessee
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVICU)

- Float Required: Yes
- Schedule: 2 weekends per month or every other weekend
- Patient Ratios: 1:1 in CVICU; 1:2-3 in ICU
- Holiday Time Off: No time off during holidays or holiday weeks (including Valentine's Day, local spring break, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, local fall break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day). Holiday time off requests may be addressed onsite after arrival.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; must be current and not expire within 45 days of assignment start.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; must be current and not expire within 45 days of assignment start.
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) - Required for all RN candidates; must be the actual downloaded certification, not screenshots or photos.
Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, OCN, TNCC, EFM, CPI). Confirm with program management if unit description is unclear.
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara test or online test within 12 months)
- Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher; not required for L&D, Psych, LTC, Mother-Baby/Couplet Care/Post Partum, Transitional Care)
- Core Competency Exams Part I, II, and III (minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually)
Required Licenses and Verifications
- Valid Tennessee RN license (must be current and not expire within 45 days of assignment start)
- NURSYS Verification for RN license (must be run within 30 days of start)
- State License Verification (must be run within 30 days of start)
Health and Background Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA (fit for duty)
- Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year; T-spots not accepted
- TB Questionnaire
- Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Drug Testing within 45 days of start (includes a comprehensive panel with MRO signature)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination for 2025-26 season or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Background Check completed within 45 days of start, including 7-year SSN trace, alias verification, sex offender registry checks, criminal searches, and abuse registry checks
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport style, solid background, no filters or facial piercings)
- Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days, and active nursing license details
- Two supervisory references from the past 3 years
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated within the last year
- Onboarding attestation and review of facility-specific documents prior to start
