Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Gouverneur, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Role combines ER Charge Nurse and House Supervisor responsibilities.
• ER charge experience is required.
• House Supervisor experience is highly preferred.
• Small community hospital setting with MS/ER units only.
• Average daily census: 26 patients.
• Unit details: 7 rooms, 8 beds.
• Staffing ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients on all shifts.
• Work schedule includes every other weekend.
• Triage skills required.
• Local candidates not accepted; must live more than 50 miles away.
• Return to office (RTO) requirement: maximum 7 days.
• Scrubs: any color allowed.

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (ER charge experience required)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; 1st time travelers accepted
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – required for ER, must have at start (no pending)
  • State RN License (New York)
• Triage skills mandatory

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG within 30 days of start.
• Education verification for nursing degree required.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (with age exemptions)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series completion, or declination)
  • Varicella (titer, vaccines, or documented history)
• Drug screening required within 30 days of start.
• Flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season.
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.
• Harassment prevention training certificate (annual requirement).

• Professional references (2) required.

• Completion of facility-specific training modules and compliance attestations prior to start.
