Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (BICU) - Madison, Wisconsin
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Burn Intensive Care Unit (BICU)
- Location: Madison, Wisconsin
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
- Shift: Evening/Night, 12-hour shifts (may work between 1500-0730), every other weekend and some holidays
- Unit: 11-bed acuity adaptable unit in a Level One Trauma Center and Wisconsin’s only ACS-verified Adult and Pediatric Burn Center
Job Description
- Provide compassionate care to adult and pediatric patients with chemical, electrical, scald, or thermal burns and/or complex wounds in a critical care setting.
- Practice as part of a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team.
- Floating may be required; travelers may be assigned shifts in multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years.
- ICU experience required.
- Prior travel experience required: Must have successfully completed at least one prior travel assignment of 13 weeks.
- Epic electronic health record experience required, preferably within the last 12 months.
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass a Telemetry test prior to start.
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Wisconsin nursing license or a compact nursing license from permanent address state.
- BLS and ACLS certifications issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) only.
- Telemetry certification: Must pass facility-specific Telemetry test before starting.
Additional Requirements
- Traveler’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site.
- Must complete facility-specific background checks and verifications, including caregiver screening.
- Required to complete facility-specific Telemetry exams annually (Adult and Pediatric as applicable).
- Must comply with all health document requirements including immunizations and screenings (e.g., TB test, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccination or approved exemption).
- Drug screening required per facility and agency standards.
- Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exams and other competency assessments as applicable.
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgments required.
- Photo for badge and other facility-specific documentation required prior to start.
