Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience. This is a travel/contract position at a Level 1 Trauma, short-term acute care facility with 1266 staffed beds.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in CVOR required.
  • Will consider 1 year if experience is at a Level 1 Trauma Facility.
  • First-time travelers accepted only if more than 2 years experience at a Level 1 Trauma Facility.
  • Prior travel experience not explicitly required.

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Rotating shifts with start times between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM.
  • Monday through Friday with on-call shifts: 3-4 weekday and 1-2 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule period (may vary based on unit needs).
  • Weekend work required per call policy.
  • Floating within service line as needed.
  • No block scheduling.
  • Local candidates not accepted (must live at least 75 miles from facility).
  • Pending licenses accepted.
  • Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days.

Specialty & Skills

  • Scrub and circulate experience required for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular cases.
  • Experience with vascular (open and endovascular), transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas), and Whipple (pancreatic) procedures preferred.
  • BSN preferred.

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) – check unit-specific requirements.

Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri.
  • Primary source verification required (NURSYS).
  • Missouri licenses verifiable on NURSYS.
  • Pending licenses accepted.

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued ID required.
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches.
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required.
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois.
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Fit mask testing required annually (N95 respirators).
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap (or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with yearly questionnaire)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
    • Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required prior to start (e.g., HIPAA, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code).

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred).
  • Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain specialties and units.
  • Orientation modules through WorkRamp required for all RNs.
