Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU Medical/Pulmonary with Renal Overflow
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in Medical/Pulmonary with Renal overflow. The role includes care for chronic ventilated patients (not ICU level) and requires strong skills in cardiac monitoring and respiratory support.
Schedule
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
- Floating within skillset required
Required Qualifications
Licensure
- Active Virginia State or Compact RN license required
- Pending license accepted only if holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Clinical Skills
- Cardiac monitoring: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Administration of cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low dose dopamine and dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix; no titration)
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Ventilator care for chronic ventilated patients (non-ICU level)
- Respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management
- Participation in Rapid Response and Code teams
- Isolation precautions
Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – PCU Medical/Pulmonary with Renal overflow

Unit Details

- EPIC charting experience required

- Fit testing within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Drug screening within 30 days of start
- Immunizations or titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 2 clinical references required
- Completion of new hire paperwork and orientation materials prior to start

- Call-off policy allows 1 shift off per 2 weeks
