Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) - Lactation Consultant Program Coordinator
Location: Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Temporary Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
This position involves providing expert assessment, treatment, consultation, planning, and leadership oversight for optimal lactation management in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role includes formulating interdisciplinary plans of care for patients with advanced lactation support needs and communicating these plans with the care team.
Required Qualifications
- License: Must hold a valid Massachusetts RN license.
- Certification: International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification required. Equivalent certifications are NOT accepted.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1+ years as an IBCLC.
- At least 2,500 hours of experience as a breastfeeding consultant.
- Experience with inpatient lactation programs.
- Experience in outpatient prenatal and postpartum lactation education, consultations, and/or teaching.
- Additional Requirements:
- Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Must have own vehicle for assignment.
- Must include all certifications and requested time off at profile submission; no scheduling requests accepted after offer.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Meditech Expanse electronic health record system is strongly preferred.
Additional Information
- Orientation: 8 hours non-billable orientation required.
- Holiday and overtime pay multipliers apply.
- No more than 5 days of requested time off during the assignment will be accepted.
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered.
Summary
This role is ideal for an experienced RN with IBCLC certification who is skilled in both inpatient and outpatient lactation consulting and education. The position requires strong clinical expertise, leadership in lactation management, and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
