Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide and coordinate home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
- Directly supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses.
- Conduct home visits and periodic office meetings.
- Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day.
- Types of cases include Start of Care, Wound Care, Follow-up Visits, etc.
- Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic.
- Use of HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) and Oasis EMR systems required.
- Schedule typically Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM, with potential on-call (1 weeknight and 1 weekend per month) and weekend coverage.
- Visits may include both patient homes and care facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Home Health)
- Experience: Minimum 1 full year of recent Adult Home Health experience or Hospice experience (whichever is applicable). First-time travelers are not accepted; recent specialty experience is mandatory.
- Certifications: Current CPR and BLS certification required.
- Licensure: Must have an active Registered Nurse license in hand for Missouri; pending licenses are not accepted.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation and a current driver's license required. Liability insurance as per agency requirements.
- EMR Proficiency: Must be proficient with HomeCare HomeBase and Oasis; if not used within the last 6 months, retraining is required.
Additional Information
- Dress code: Scrubs.
- No guaranteed hours; patient census may vary. If hours are low, floating to nearby clinics may be arranged.
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
- Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate for travel between patient homes (commute to/from first and last patient is not billable).
- On-call and weekend requirements vary; discuss during interview.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Must complete standard background checks including 7-year history, sex offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches.
- Fingerprinting required as per state regulations.
- Education verification required.
- Drug screening (10-panel) required.
- Health documents required: Physical exam within 12 months, negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and COVID vaccination or declination.
- References: Two professional references required.
- Must review and sign various compliance, confidentiality, HIPAA, and policy documents prior to start.
- Must have personal or auto insurance policy valid and under candidate’s name or list candidate as a driver.
