Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele Float)
Location: Newark, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Float between 8 MS/Tele units in a float pool; additional float units possible based on skill set and hospital needs
- Patient ratio approximately 1:5-6+ (to be confirmed)
- Work schedule includes every other weekend
- Report to the Nursing Office for unit assignment each shift
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
- Experience working in an acute care setting
- Experience working with adult, infant, maternal-fetal, neonate, and pediatric patients
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- IV Certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Required Certifications & Training
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA required; RQI and instructor cards acceptable
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required and must be updated annually
- Peripheral IV and Central Line Education Package: Mandatory for all RNs on new bookings; certification valid for 3 years
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Preferred but not required for this position
- Completion of Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam within 72 hours of signing
- Completion of Competency Exam, Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam, and IV Therapy/Infusion Exam within 72 hours of signing
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required with remediation policy in place
Additional Required Certifications (as applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB): Required for ER, Peds ER, and Behavioral Health RNs only
- Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM, and specialized tech certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (confirm with program coordinator)
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Jersey
- License name must match legal name on documentation or have proof of name change on file
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel minimum)
- Background check within 30 days of start, including criminal, alias, and exclusion list searches
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
- Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Completion of annual education sign-off and facility-specific orientation materials
- Fit test and respiratory medical clearance as required
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Color blindness testing if job tasks require color discrimination
- Latex allergy questionnaire if applicable
Work Policies
- Must complete floating policy acknowledgment for every new assignment
- Must comply with facility-specific safety and orientation requirements
- Must complete annual CEUs including stroke, trauma, med-surg, and others as applicable
- Must complete Vendor Medical Clearance Form if history of positive TB
- Must complete Iron Temple online training if assigned to ER, Peds ER, or Behavioral Health units
Patient Care & Safety
- Patient care ratio approximately 1:5-6+
- Must maintain all required certifications and competencies throughout assignment
- Must adhere to all facility policies including infection control, medication administration, and emergency procedures
