Job Opportunity: Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 17 weeks


Job Description

  • Work evening/night shifts (12-hour shifts, 1900-0730) with every other weekend and some holidays required.
  • Provide care on a 12-bed neuroscience critical care unit supporting both Intermediate Care (IMC) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) levels.
  • Care for adult patients with neurological, neurosurgical, and stroke conditions including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, traumatic brain injuries, hydrocephalus, cerebral aneurysm, and other neurovascular diseases.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to manage interventions such as vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring, feeding tubes, drains, and frequent assessments.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic and supportive team within a nationally recognized neuroscience program.
  • Floating required: may be assigned to multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
  • Neuro ICU experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience in inpatient and acute care settings
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Shift Details

  • Evening/Night shifts, 12 hours (1900-0730)
  • Every other weekend and some holidays may be required

Additional Notes

  • This is a travel/contract position with a 17-week assignment.
  • Floating between units may be required based on staffing needs.
  • The facility is Magnet®-designated and recognized as a leading hospital and teaching institution.

Summary

This Neuro ICU RN role is ideal for experienced critical care nurses with strong acute care and ICU backgrounds, who are comfortable working in a neuroscience critical care environment and have recent Epic experience. The position requires flexibility with floating and working night shifts, along with meeting rigorous certification and testing standards.
