Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Operating Room
• Shift: 5x8 hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
• Call Requirements: One 12-hour shift per month on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday), either 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays, the day before or after holidays, or weekends
• Floating: Mandatory float facility; all staff must float within their scope as needed
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Experience in Orthopedic Trauma
• Experience in an Acute Care setting
• Strong scrub and circulate skills
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Licensure

• Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois
• Pending licenses are not accepted

Location Preference

• Local candidates preferred; must live within 75 miles of the facility

Additional Requirements & Compliance

• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, updated annually
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually
• Fit mask testing annually (N95 or equivalent) with medical/religious exemptions considered
• Immunizations and health documents required: Tdap, TB testing (QGold or TSPOT), MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccination (or approved exemption)
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology testing required within 12 months of start
• Various facility-specific forms and compliance documents must be completed prior to start

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit requirement for prior travel experience

This role is ideal for experienced OR RNs seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity Level 1 Trauma Center with a structured schedule and floating responsibilities.
