Job Description

• Work in an Adult Emergency Room at a Level 1 Trauma and Teaching Facility
• Must have experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with adult patients

Prior Travel Experience

Background and Health Requirements

• Criminal background check within 60 days of start, including all states lived/worked in past 7 years
• E-Verify, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification: Degree from an accredited nursing program (NLN or CCNE)
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Immunizations and titers required: Tdap, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
• Drug screening within 60 days of start (9-panel minimum, instant screens not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required for 2025-26 season

Orientation and Facility Specifics

• Orientation includes pharmacology exam, point of care testing, airborne precaution mask fitting, and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) for certain units
• Completion of assigned learning modules during orientation week (approx. 6 hours)
• Required to bring mask (cloth acceptable), non-wireless headphones, and laptop or cell phone (notify if not available)

Additional Notes

• Fingerprinting and CPS (Central Registry) background checks required for certain units (Pediatrics, NICU, Behavioral Health, Labor and Delivery) with proof of submission required prior to start; results may be pending at start

• No onsite certification renewals; renewals must be scheduled prior to contract start
