Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Fishersville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide direct patient care and education for adult patients who are acutely ill with a variety of medical conditions including cardiac, neurological, renal, infectious disease, pulmonary, and more.
• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Telemetry setting.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5.
• Weekend requirement: Every other Saturday, off every Sunday.
• Local candidates not accepted; permanent address must be 50+ miles from the facility.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with adult patients

Additional Requirements

• Must pass a 7-year criminal background check and other background screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
• Up-to-date immunizations including Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
• Negative 10-panel drug test including marijuana within 30 days of start (zero tolerance for THC).
• Fit mask test (N95 preferred), updated annually.
• Completion of facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., confidentiality agreement, standards of appearance, social media policy).
• Two professional references and current application/resume required.
• Skills checklist updated annually.

Summary

This is a travel/contract RN position in a PCU/Telemetry unit caring for adult patients with complex medical needs. The role requires at least 1 year of RN experience, ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke certifications, and a valid Virginia or Compact RN license. The contract is approximately 13 weeks long with weekend shifts every other Saturday. Prior travel experience is not required, and first-time travelers are welcome. Candidates must meet comprehensive health, background, and compliance requirements before starting.
