Job Opportunity: RN - Progressive Critical Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Albany, New York
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Work in the Progressive Critical Care Unit caring for medically delicate and surgically complex adult patients.
Patient conditions include respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications.
Average patient load: 3 high acuity patients.
Nurses with large-scale adult PCU and community hospital ICU experience tend to perform well.
Competency test required within 24 hours of submission.

Required Skills and Competencies

Epic experience required.
Competent in care of medical and surgical populations.
ACLS certification required.
Advanced hemodynamics knowledge including pressor usage per titration protocols.
Experience with antihypertensive drips, sedative and narcan drips, thrombo-embolytics.
Familiarity with arterial line (a line), central venous pressure (CVP), external ventricular drain (EVD), orthopedic traction, and infection prevention protocols.
Experience with HFNC, BiPap/CPAP, and oxypendent devices.
Navy blue scrubs required.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Experience working with adult patients.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Additional Information

Local candidates from certain counties are not eligible as of 1/11/2024.
Floating to other units may be required.
Competency test will be administered electronically.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced critical care RNs seeking a travel assignment in a high-acuity PCU setting.
