Job Opportunity: Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours/week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend plus holiday rotation
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 or 1:3
- Float Pool: RN will float within scope to all Pediatric units including CVPICU, NICU, PICU
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during June-November (peak in August-September)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current PALS certification issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with Pediatric patients
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Preferred/Additional Certifications:
- ACLS not required for pediatric units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) through AHA/AAP
- TNCC not required for ER RNs
- Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology and Competency exams required as applicable
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Additional Requirements & Information
- Local Radius: 60 miles; locals accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS, and education verification required
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam updated annually
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers required: Tdap, TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30), medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- Facility Specific:
- Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
- Employment History: Complete application/resume with no unaccounted gaps, including all PTO and contract assignments
- Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified
