Travel RN - Labor and Delivery

Unit Overview

• OB/LDRP unit with an average of 80–90 deliveries per month (varies by month)
• Mix of experienced RNs and new graduates gaining OB experience
• Traveler role is essential to support patient care due to new graduate presence
• Unit features:

  • 4 Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms (each with private bath, shower, spa tub)
  • 8 postpartum rooms with refrigerators and fold-out couches
  • Operating rooms for Caesarean births
  • Special care nursery

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Preferred: 3+ years of OB experience
• Candidates with less than 3 years may be considered if they have prior travel experience or specialized OB setting experience

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification

License

• Valid RN license for New York

Prior Travel Experience

• Considered favorably if candidate has prior travel experience, but not explicitly required

Additional Information

• Travelers must work every other holiday, similar to full-time staff (holiday requests approved based on unit needs)
• Additional night shift RN travel contracts may become available

Onboarding Requirements (Selected Highlights)

• License verification and Nursys validation
• Bassett Core Competencies, Unit Exam, and Skills Checklist
• Immunizations and health screenings including MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, TB test, Varicella, and annual TB questionnaire
• Background checks, professional references, and drug screening
