Job Opportunity: CT Scan Technologist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Job Title: CT Tech
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- On-call: Yes, on-call rotation with staff
- Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
- Daily Caseload: Varies per shift and location
Required Qualifications
- Valid CT Technologist license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of CT Technologist experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ARRT certification
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
Facility & Work Environment
- Teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma designation
- Total staffed beds: 865
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub color: Teal top and black bottom
- Parking: Paid parking for nights and weekends; one-time parking pass fee applies
- Emergency response team participation required (hurricane season June-November)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education Verification: Required (diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder)
- Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified; attestation letters accepted if verification not possible
- Competency Exams: Required as applicable
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Employment Application: Must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual updates required, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit Mask Test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
- Vaccinations & Titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- COVID vaccines highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
Certifications & Training
- ACLS: Required for certain units (not specifically for this role unless assigned to those units)
- PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM: As required by unit (not specifically required for CT Tech)
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; includes HIPAA attestation and facility-specific training
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo required before start
Additional Notes
- Radius rule: 60 miles
- Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Radiation badge processing may take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start without badge on floor
- Travelers assigned to emergency response teams (Storm Teams) during hurricane season
This position is suitable for CT Technologists with at least 1 year of experience, including trauma and Siemens equipment experience, who are comfortable with travel assignments and working in a high-acuity teaching hospital environment.
