Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details

- Patient Ratios: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

- Pending License: Accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: Yes, minimum 3 shifts per 13-week contract
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Candidates with 1+ year experience at a Level I/Teaching Facility may be considered
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Telemetry certification required
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI) — verify per unit specifics
Clinical Skills / Special Requirements
- Experience with drains, monitoring flaps post-op
- Tracheostomy and total laryngectomy care
- Tube feeding
- Phlebotomy
- IV access and Central Line Management
- Wound care
- Care for patients with cuffed/cuffless tracheostomies, total laryngectomies, carotid blowout precautions, and free flap patients
- Unit specialty includes ENT and Plastic Surgery

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
- Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab units
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse license for Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
- Primary source verification required (NURSYS for Missouri)
Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (N95) annually, with specific models accepted
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap (or Td for renewal)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
- Drug testing within 1 year, must not expire during assignment
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season

Additional Requirements
- Unit-specific competency exams (e.g., medication, dysrhythmia/EKG) required and must be updated annually
- Skills checklist within 1 year of start, including oncology skills if applicable
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Employment application must be submitted and uploaded
Scheduling & Work Environment
- Weekend shifts every other weekend required
- Floating within scope to meet unit needs
- No block scheduling available
- No local hires within 75 miles
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Telemetry certification
- Clinical skills including:
- Drain care
- Free flap monitoring
- Tracheostomy care
- Total laryngectomy care
- Tube feeding
