Job Opportunity: RN - CVICU (Travel)

Location: San Antonio, Texas
Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a competent Registered Nurse with pediatric cardiac experience to provide routine and complex care in a critical care setting. The nurse will practice independently, manage clinical situations, and delegate tasks appropriately.


Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
  • Experience working with pediatric patients
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

Position Requirements

  • New hires must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days.
  • Preceptorship by a trained staff member with competency validations during onboarding.
  • Completion of annual competency verifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care following ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
