Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)

Job Description

• Position: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Patient Age Groups: Neonates and Adults
• Unit Details: 15-bed Labor and Delivery unit with inpatient rooming-in for infants with mothers; newborn nursery used as needed
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Medication System: Omnicell
• Communication Method: SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation)
• Charge Nurse: Not required or preferred

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Neonate and Adult patients
• Certifications:

  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)

Additional Requirements

• Background Checks: Standard 7-year search including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search
• Statewide iCORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) clearance required
• Physical Exam: Within 1 year prior to start
• Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start (minimum 9-panel, instant acceptable)
• Immunizations and Health Documentation:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or equivalent)
  • Annual TB questionnaire if applicable
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B immunity or signed declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination (declinations not accepted)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (with medical declination accepted)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccination (exemption only for approved medical/religious reasons)
• N95 Fit Test: Required within last 6 months for specified mask models; PAPR proof required if failed fit test
• Competency Exams: Age-specific competency exam required
• Photo for Badge: Passport-style headshot with plain background required 2 weeks prior to start
• References: 2 professional references within last 3 years

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Charge nurse duties are not required or preferred.
• Facility does not accept declinations for MMR or Varicella vaccines.
• Flu vaccine declinations accepted only for medical reasons with documentation.
• COVID exemption requires signed documentation from a physician or religious leader.
