Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse

Location: Tampa, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 20 weeks


Job Description

Seeking a Registered Nurse with home health and infusion experience. This role involves skilled home care visits with a focus on patients with general medical diagnoses and high-risk conditions such as heart failure, COPD, myocardial infarction, pneumonia, and stroke. Post-operative care is also required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cardiopulmonary assessments
  • Provide basic wound care including ABI compression dressing, wound vac dressing, and Pleurx/Aseptdrain care
  • Foley catheter care and changes
  • Staple and suture removal
  • Use of glucometer and pro-time machine
  • Administer SQ/IM injections
  • Lab draw venipuncture
  • IV skills including PICC line or Midline care and dressing changes
  • SQ port access/deaccess
  • Conduct 6-8 skilled home visits per day
  • Self-schedule visits and hours based on office needs

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, varying shifts (8am-5pm or 9am-6pm)
  • Some shifts may include Thursday to Monday or Friday to Tuesday
  • Alternating weekend shifts

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of home health nursing experience within the last year, including OASIS training
  • Experience working with high-risk patients
  • Experience in home care and home health settings
  • Infusion experience and IV skills
  • Proficient in wound care
  • Experience with myocardial infarction (MI) patients
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted (verify if required)
  • Stroke Education CEUs (8 total hours/credits) including NIH Stroke Certification and mRS (Modified Rankin Scale) as applicable
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (100% lethal arrhythmia score) if applicable
  • Color Blind Testing (Relias) prior to start
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) if applicable

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start (annual TB questionnaire required)
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Standard 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination with mask requirement
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption
  • Respirator medical clearance if respirator use is required

Documentation & Background Checks

  • Background check within 1 year including education verification and employment history
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation if education was completed outside the US or Puerto Rico
  • Two professional references from the past 2 years
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Photo for badge (professional, clear, solid background)
  • Personal or auto insurance current and active during assignment

Additional Information

  • Scrubs: Any solid color
  • Laptop, MiFi, and portable printers provided for documentation
  • Documentation and scheduling systems will be used for visit tracking and timesheets
  • Candidates must complete required online modules prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours)
  • Mask wearing is mandatory in the workplace if flu vaccine is declined

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with strong home health experience, infusion skills, and the ability to manage a varied patient population in a community setting.
