Travel Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Details

  • Start Date: Approximately 3-4 weeks out
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • First Time Traveler: Yes, first-time travelers accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, floating within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Locals Accepted: No (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility)
  • Pending License Accepted: Yes
  • Return to Origin (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
  • Guaranteed Hours: Yes

Unit & Patient Population

  • Medical Surgical / Telemetry experience preferred
  • Acute medicine population including diabetes, renal issues, COPD, abdominal rule outs
  • Does not care for surgical patients
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam (Interpretation/Management of Dysrhythmias required)

Required Certifications

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Must have current RN license for Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias Basic Dysrhythmia or equivalent) required within 1 year of start and updated annually

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government issued ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Criminal Background Check (7-year search, statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable) within 6 months of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (quarterly)
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be current throughout assignment
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or equivalent)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Fit mask testing (N95) annually, must be able to pass fit test
  • Various facility-specific compliance documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, hand hygiene, dress code, and others to be signed prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually

  • Parking available with monthly fees; no charge for straight night shifts in employee parking
  • Facility uses EPIC for charting
  • Magnet and Teaching hospital, Level I Trauma Center
  • Short Term Acute Care facility

  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)

  • Performance evaluations may be requested but not mandatory for clearance

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
  • Medical Surgical experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
