Job Summary

Provide direct patient care on a cardiac telemetry unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for cardiac and medical-surgical patients. Utilize the nursing process to coordinate patient care and collaborate with ancillary departments. Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality in accordance with nursing standards and state regulations.

• Number of Beds: 31
• Patient Ratios (estimated):

  • Days: 1:5 to 1:6
  • Nights: 1:6 to 1:8
• Equipment: Alaris pumps, telemetry monitors, lift equipment
• Electronic Medical Record: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience in an inpatient setting within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Experience in drug titration on a cardiac telemetry unit

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification from AHA
• Experience and competence in drug titration on a cardiac telemetry unit

Job Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities
• Float on a rotational basis as needed
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
• Coordinate care with other departments
• Follow facility policies and nursing practice guidelines

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk most of the shift
• Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
• Exposure to blood and body fluids
• Flexible scheduling may be required based on patient care needs

Additional Information

• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel staff from November 1 to April 1 (declinations not accepted)
• No call requirements
• Weekend hours as required by the facility
• Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires full availability for the orientation week
• Dress code: Black scrubs; no torn clothes or open-toed shoes
