Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

• Work primarily rotating between PACU and pre/post interventional radiology area within the PACU unit.
• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (1900-0730).
• On-call: 24 hours of call per 6-week schedule period as needed.
• Patient ratios: 1:2.
• Patient population includes surgical patients recovering from GU, GYN, colorectal, minimally invasive procedures, bariatric, some ENT surgeries, and a separate IR pre/post area.
• Facility is a Level I Trauma center.
• Nurses will manage complicated postoperative patients including those with multiple drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia.
• Critical care experience required.
• Epic electronic health record system used.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
• Minimum 1 year of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) experience within the last year.
• Experience in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) or critical care setting.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Proficiency in managing vasoactive drips and mechanical ventilation.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Additional Requirements

• Must complete a unit-specific competency exam annually.
• Background checks including criminal, education verification, and state-specific searches required.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include a comprehensive panel.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually.
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and compliance education.
• Professional references required (two preferred, supervisors within last year preferred).

Work Environment & Notes

• Facility is a short-term acute care hospital with 1266 staffed beds.
• Teaching hospital with Level I trauma designation.
• Charting is done in Epic.
• Parking available with fees; no charge for straight night shifts.
• No block scheduling accommodation.
• Maximum of 7 days allowed for return to office (RTO) restrictions.
• Guaranteed 40 hours per week.

Prior Travel Experience

• First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience not required.
